Ring With Us

Ringing music on handbells is a delightful and satisfying activity combining the pleasure of music making in a group with the social side. All people can ring the bells and, when achieved, the world of playing all kinds of music: folk, popular, classical, sacred, international and, of course, Christmas is open for enjoyment. We are back and excited about music making in a group again after a long pandemic break. Not everyone has been able to return so we are looking for some new people to ring with us.

No experience is necessary – we’ll teach you all you need to know! Although if you are an experienced handbell ringer we would love to have you.

We ring from standard music notation, but don’t worry if you can’t read music – we’ll teach you! It’s easy to learn on handbells because most ringers just have to read 2 notes. You’ll be surprised how quickly you are playing beautiful music.

If you already read music (perhaps you play an instrument or sing in a choir) you will be able to fit in and ring much of our favourite music with us straight away.

If anyone is interested in learning advanced techniques to ring more bells we can teach those as well. There are usually performance opportunities for those interested – local or further afield as you prefer.

We are still taking precautions against Covid as we want everyone to stay safe. The hall is well ventilated and we are able to keep a safe distance from each other, and there is still some mask wearing.

If you are interested and available at 4pm on Tuesdays in Cholsey, please email us on aeolianchimer@googlemail.com or phone Alan and Gay on 07964 615428.

It helps us to know who is coming each week so we can bring music that uses the right number of bells- and hands! We have a wide selection of music in various genres and levels of experience for groups of one to many ringers
